Troop 895
This December, the troop was busy with multiple service projects. To start off the month, the troop and Cub Scout pack 657 cleaned up the grounds of the Falls Church Presbyterian Church. As part of the Wreaths Across America event, the troop joined other scout and community groups to lay wreaths at Oakwood Cemetary in Falls Church. Continuing a tradition started during covid, the troop made holiday cards for residents of Sunrise Senior Living in Falls Church.
Thank you to everyone who supported the troop this year through our winter fundraiser. Funds raised will support our Big Trip 2023 to Colorado.
Together with Cub Scout Pack 657, the troop collected 4,350 pounds of food for Columbia Baptist Church’s food pantry. Thank you to our generous Falls Church neighbors for giving such a large amount of donations.

At our fall Court of Honor, the troop recognized our scouts’ achievements and celebrated the troop’s 65th anniversary. We also welcomed former troop leaders and alumni.

For our first campout of the new scout year, the troop went canoe camping along the south fork of the Shenandoah River.

This summer the scouts attended summer camp at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia. Highlights included kayaking, fishing, climbing, and whitewater rafting in the New River Gorge. Scouts had a great time!

Founded in 1957, Scout Troop 895 has been supporting the youth of the Falls Church, Arlington, and Fairfax, Virginia communities for sixty-five years. We are chartered by the Falls Church Presbyterian Church. Our troop focuses on delivering the Scouting program of teaching citizenship, leadership, and confidence building life skills in an outdoor environment. We strive to maintain a scout-led organization. Scouts plan and execute the program each year to include meetings, outdoor activities, service projects, and summer camps.
We actively participate in scouting high adventure programs at Philmont, Seabase, Northern Tier, and Summit Bechtel. Additionally, it is a troop tradition to take a “Big Trip” every four years. We plan a two-week excursion with one week touring the area, and a second week at a local scout camp. Our trips have included locations such as Black Hills South Dakota, Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, Colorado, and the Pacific Northwest. In 2023 the troop went to Colorado!
Troop 895 meets Monday nights from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm when Falls Church City schools are in session.
The Troop is chartered by Falls Church Presbyterian Church located at 225 E. Broad St.
