First spring campout, at Elizabeth Furnace. It was 60 degrees when we arrived Friday evening, 18 degrees when we woke up Sunday morning! Yeah, it was cold. Scouts hiked and worked on the camping merit badge.

The troop had a great winter Court of Honor. Congratulations to all of the scouts who earned new ranks, merit badges, and other recognition. Among the merit badges were Railroading, Welding, and the new Citizenship in Society. The troop’s SPL earned a gold device for his National Outdoor Award, for camping 50 nights!

The weather finally cooperated last weekend, and we were able to set up the axe yard. Great instruction from one of our more senior scouts – four more scouts now have their Totin’ Chip and completed some rank requirements.
The troop hosted a pancake breakfast for our chartering organization, the Falls Church Presbyterian Church. First one since 2020 – everyone was happy to see the return of the tradition.
The troop had fun watching the game from a corporate box.
Cabin camping, visiting the Railroad Museum of PA, and riding Strasburg Rail Road’s steam train. Scouts worked on the railroading merit badge.
This December, the troop was busy with multiple service projects. To start off the month, the troop and Cub Scout pack 657 cleaned up the grounds of the Falls Church Presbyterian Church. As part of the Wreaths Across America event, the troop joined other scout and community groups to lay wreaths at Oakwood Cemetary in Falls Church. Continuing a tradition started during covid, the troop made holiday cards for residents of Sunrise Senior Living in Falls Church.
Thank you to everyone who supported the troop this year through our winter fundraiser. Funds raised will support our Big Trip 2023 to Colorado.
Together with Cub Scout Pack 657, the troop collected 4,350 pounds of food for Columbia Baptist Church’s food pantry. Thank you to our generous Falls Church neighbors for giving such a large amount of donations.
